June 6, 1999 MM marries Bill McGuire.
March 2002 MM, while 8 months pregnant with Bill's child, begins an affair with Dr. Bradley Miller. This affair will continue until after she murders Bill.
April 18, 2004 At 5:45, MM runs a Google search on the words "how to commit murder"
April 18, 2004 Later the same day, searches on Google and MSN search engines were run on such topics as `instant poisons,` `undetectable poisons,' 'fatal dioxin doses,' and gun laws in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
April 26, 2004: MM buys a .38-caliber revolver from a gun shop in Easton, Pa, using a relative's address. She again runs Internet searches on her home computer looking up "undetectable poisons" and "how to commit a murder."April 26, 2004 MM's computer accesses www.walgreens.com/storelocator was run.
April 27, 2004 Twelve minutes after the children were dropped off at daycare, a prescription for Choral Hydrate is filled at a Walgreens located about a five minute drive from the children's daycare. The script was written on the prescription pad of MM's
employer, written for a former patient at the fertility clinic, except one digit in the phone number was changed.
April 28, 2004 Melanie and William McGuire close on a home in Warren County with a $450,000 mortgage. Hours later, William McGuire, a 39-year-old computer programmer at New Jersey Institute of Technology, is drugged and shot, then dismembered in his Woodbridge apartment.
April 29, 2004 An email is sent to Bill McGuire's boss stating "I will be out sick today." There was a typo in the email recipient field (an address Bill had sent literally hundreds of emails to in the past).
April 30, 2004 MM files a complaint and receives a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, claiming that, on April 29 (the day they closed on the home), Bill had begun arguing with her, slapped her and stuffed a dryer sheet in her mouth, then fled in a rage when she locked herself in the bathroom. April 30, 2004 When later made aware that there was a video surveillance camera in the parking lot of the Flamingo Motel, MM claimed that she had driven to Atlantic City on April 29 (after the alleged domestic violence incident), managed to locate Bill's car in one of the dozen of casino parking lots containing literally thousands of cars, moved the car to the Flamingo Motel in order to "prank" Bill (who she had just received a DV TRO against), then was unable to locate her car, so she took a a cab back to Middlesex County, then, upon arriving in Woodbridge, she suddenly remembered where her car was, so she took another cab back to Atlantic City, retrieved her car, then drove back to Middlesex County.
May 2, 2004 Bill's work cellphone placed a call to his Woodbridge apartment at 1:10 a.m.
May 2, 2004 Fifteen minutes after the call, MM's EZ Pass registered a hit on the Atlantic City Expressway toll (note the May 18 2004 entries on same topic).May 5, 2004 A man fishing from his boat near the fourth island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel retrieves a suitcase from the water containing human remains.
May 8, 2004 William McGuire's abandoned car is towed to a police impound yard from where MM left it at the Flamingo Hotel.
May 11, 2004 A graduate student, out for a day of bird-watching, finds a suitcase that washed ashore on Fisherman's Island, off Virginia's Eastern Shore. A human head and torso are recovered from the suitcase.
May 16, 2004 A boater finds a third matching suitcase, floating in the bay near the second island of the bridge and tunnel. More human remains are inside.
May 18, 2004 MM called EZ Pass customer service center, contesting the .45 charge on May 2 at the Atlantic City Expressway and asking that it be removed from her EZ Pass record.
May 18, 2004 An as-yet unidentified man also calls EZ Pass customer service to contest the .45 charge on May 2 and also asking that it be removed from the EZ Pass record.
May 21, 2004: Virginia Beach, Va., police release a composite sketch of the face of the man whose remains were recovered. Susan Rice of Chesapeake, Va., recognizes the victim as her husband's longtime friend and Navy buddy, William McGuire, 39. On the same day, Melanie McGuire signs papers seeking a divorce in N.J.
May 25, 2004: Melanie McGuire files for divorce in Middlesex County.Nov 26, 2008 While under investigation for Bill's murder, MM flirts with the State Police investigator, telling him "You know, you're kind of cute."
